Why Take Action?
Dayton and the surrounding region is experiencing unprecedented economic and social decline. The community is responding with a multitude of private and public initiatives, yet this positive energy is being splintered and is in danger of dissipating before a turnaround can be made

A Perfect Opportunity
Dayton has an untold story that can become important to it future. The 1995 Dayton Peace Accords has made Dayton known throughout the world as a documented “city of peace.” In addition, a network of organizations and individuals dedicated in their own ways to creating peace in the world -- from wellness and environmental communities to faith-based and military communities -- is already in place. This expansive “peace economy” is working to make Dayton a more prosperous, safe, and peaceful city.

A Workable Solution
The “Dayton Cities of Peace” initiative focuses the positive energy of current programs toward our common goal of realizing the American Dream, indeed the World Dream, of peace in our homes and neighborhoods as well as prosperity in our communities. A practical solution, it builds on the extensive economic and social resources in place and gives inspirational direction for where we should put our combined talents, creativity, and hard work.

A Strategic Vision
Whether we live in the center City or an outlying area of the Greater Dayton Region, It is imperative that we find an innovative and inspirational way to network all the individuals and organizations working toward prosperity. By leveraging our international reputation as a “city of peace,” we will find consensus for creating a more peaceful and prosperous community that will encourage unity, foster economic growth, and return our City to its roots of imagination, good will, and innovation.

Positioning for Success
Peace and prosperity together are at the core of the American dream. With such common goals, everyone in our community can come together around this initiative. Prosperity is a consensus value in our community. Peace in a broad sense can be seen as an industry of businesses and volunteer activities committed to giving our children a better world.

Implementation and Evaluation
A core of dedicated professionals and spokespersons is available to make the “Dayton Cities of Peace” initiative a success. Yet without proper measurement of progress, the initiative would eventually lose citizen commitment. To that effect, a baseline of survey results will be completed and replicated each year in order to evaluate the impact of the network’s local and international programs.
