Dayton, Ohio was officially Proclaimed an International City of Peace in 2010. Since 2013, the citizens of Dayton have worked very hard to include everyone in the PEACE DAYton Collaboration Group, from the arts and education to our security forces and civic leadership. There are over 100 organizations involved with thousands contributing each September to commemorate through reflection, education, and celebration the vision of a culture of peace. Collaboration works. Each person and group is respected and encouraged to find “their way” to contribute to peace. No one person or one group can achieve peace in a community. We hope this Annual Report from Dayton, Ohio will inspire and provide hope that a community-wide approach is possible in every city on earth. Indeed, it can become a way to organize to create peace in your community.
