News from Nanjing: City of Peace
This is the Quarterly Peace Magazine sent from the Institute of Nanjing Massacre History and International Peace. The editor is Junyan Liu, assistant to Jainjun Zhang, Director of the Memorial Hall for Victims of the Nanjing Massacre. An alliance between International Cities of Peace and Nanjing peace groups is committed to closer ties and communications to facilitate the establishment of Cities of Peace throughout Southeast Asia.
The photo above is from December’s Candlelight Vigil, a peace event broadcast on Chinese Network Television. Executive Director of International Cities of Peace, Fred Arment, is standing to the left of Piotr Cywinsky, Director of the Aushwitz-Birkenau State Museum of Poland.
“At 17:30 on December 13th, 2018, a candlelight vigil was held at the memorial square to mourn the massacre victims. Piotr Cywinsky, director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum of Poland, and Frederic Arment, president of the International Cities of Peace, were joined by more than 300 people to light the candlelight and pay homage.”
