PLAN YOUR PEACE DAY TO ENGAGE YOUR COMMUNITY!

Each year, Cities of Peace around the globe hold events to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Peace in September, on or around September 21st. This year is the 40th Anniversary of the first peace day event, with Ashland, Oregon City of Peace and Pathways to Peace leading the way with a major event in San Francisco. Use the Global Feast for Peace™ as a no-or-low-cost way to engage the community, make a plan for 2025, and celebrate your vision for peace. We will be creating a video of all the celebrations, commemorations, music, educational events and more! Take photos and post on our Member Facebook page after your events in September.

Above is a visual of peacemakers who have shown leadership in the success of International Cities of Peace. We thank each one of our Facilitators, Board Members, Liaisons, Advisors, Donors, and Friends for choosing to work hard and raise the bar for local and global peace.

In 2020, the Board of Directors approved an important document that defined priorities for the nonprofit during 2020-2025. Strategic Vision: 1000 Cities of Peace. That document has brought our global nonprofit to over 400 Cities of Peace in 75 countries on all six continents. In March, we celebrated 15 years of progress. The Strategic Plan in 2020 put in place a well-thought strategy to do the following:

1. Achieve substantial on-the-ground impact across the globe.
2. Leap across the many global barriers that prevent free access for peace work.
3. Build a small effective ICP Central Team to support thousands of ICP leaders.

We did it. And we did it TOGETHER. (See the graphic above, hundreds of people intricately involved!). We have a long way to go but the accomplishments so far show the way::

1. Empowerment: Peace leaders have greater authority in their community
2. Support: A strong, professional ICP Central Facilitator Team
3. Training: Educational programs in nonviolence and volunteerism
4. Movement: City of Peace profiles and listings for all communities
5. Mentoring: Colleague and donor programs to achieve sustainability
6. Action: Program Plans launched in hundreds of peace communities
7. Representation: Geneva and New York United Nations Status
8. Promotions: Peace Day videos and City of Peace media outreach
9. Innovation: ICP turns tired NGO methods right side up
10. Scalable Network: 409 Cities of Peace and growing rapidly!

We are working in many war-torn countries, helping refuges, empowering peacemakers, etc., etc. The City of Peace movement is a powerful force for safety, prosperity and quality of life for people on all continents. The reason for growing the network? All “peace boats” are lifted.

NOW, THIS MONTH, WE WILL GATHER IDEAS FOR THE NEXT FIVE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN.
