Rotarians Tell Their Community-wide Peacemaking Story
A groundswell of Cities of Peace, many times initiated by Rotary. “ROTARY CREATES ENVIRONMENTS OF PEACE,” says Rotary International. “As a humanitarian organization, peace is a cornerstone of our mission. We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect.” Now comes our 5th International City of Peace established under the ICP Rotarianism Cities of Peace program. The Rotary Club of Wilsonville, Oregon, U.S.A, has a strong community-wide legacy. “When we get together,” writes Rotarians Jake McMichael, Laura LaJoie and Lauretta MacColman, “our members learn about the issues facing our community and other communities all over the world.” Many more Rotary Clubs are working on establishing their communities as Peace Cities. Their stories are amazing. ICP gives them a platform for showcasing their peacemaking.
