NEW CITIES OF PEACE THIS QUARTER

420 Cities of Peace in 75 Nations on all 6 Inhabited Continents — and Growing!

The quotes below were written in the week these Cities joined ICP:

CHILGOK, Gyeongsang, Republic of Korea: 417th International City of Peace

From the Civil Government (photo above): โ€œChilgok-gun is a city of patriotism and peace, as it played a crucial role in saving the Republic of Korea during the Korean War. Building on this spirit of patriotism, our goal is to become a city of peace and culture by integrating the humanities and lifelong learning. Ultimately, we aim to help people find peace and happiness in their daily lives. We built the Chilgok Patriots and Peace Memorial not only to honor those who sacrificed themselves in the Battle of the Nakdong River Defense Line to defend the freedom and peace of South Korea, but also to inherit and develop their patriotic spirit.”

KASAWA, Central Region, Uganda: 416th International City of Peace

From ICP Liaison Nantamba David (photo above): “As a passionate advocate for positive change, I founded Tosiyo Helping Hands Foundation to empower communities, educate minds, and uplift spirits. My journey has taught me that even the smallest acts of kindness can spark profound impact. With unwavering dedication and compassion, I strive to bridge gaps, foster inclusivity, and nurture a culture of peace and understanding. Through Tosiyo Helping Hands Foundation, I aim to leave a lasting legacy of hope, opportunity, and transformation, inspiring generations to come.โ€

KOLWEZI, Lualaba Province, D.R. Congo: 419th International City of Peace

About ICP Liaison John Mukhuta Muhiana, founder of the World Peace Foundation: “…having lived through the unfortunate massacre events in the Democratic Republic of Congo, his country of origin, Africa, his continent, and throughout the world, his planet Earth, not only on the physical level but also on the spiritual level, following wars of all kinds, tribal, religious, racial and following injustice, corruption, and violence, which destroy the whole world, John Mukhuta was led to seek a simple, radical and effective way that will allow the adoption of Peace, love and unity to every inhabitant of the whole world.”

INCHEON, Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea: 418th International City of Peace

The Civil Government of this City of nearly three million people works to keep the peace in these primary ways: “1) To promote freedom, peace, and prosperity, spreading the message of peace domestically and internationally to contribute to the establishment of peace in Northeast Asia and the world; 2) To embrace diverse cultures as an open port city, working towards becoming a city of peace that respects diversity; 3) To strive for coexistence and peace as a border region with North Korea”

NANSANA, Wakiso District, Uganda: 420th International City of Peace

From ICP Liaison Kayongo Abdul Mutumba: “We can increase safety through skilling community members, which would create job creators other than seekers in our community. This helps to reduce the high levels of unemployment which in turn reduces on the high crime rates which are a result of poverty. Some of the skills include, building, carpentry,ย  plumbing, weaving, etc. We would do community mobilisation on general community issues like general cleanliness and hygiene, and sports activities. This helps to bring community members together.”

FROM THE CHAIR
Safety, Prosperity, and Quality of Life: The Consensus Values of Peace

It has been a difficult year for Peace. Wars, loss of democracies, natural disasters, political defeats — many peacemakers are talking about New Strategies to make more progress.

International Cities of Peace IS the New Strategy!

Hundreds of communities are working on-the-ground for the betterment of their citizens and visitors alike. The trick? Respect. Local knowledge, โ€œin situโ€ leadership that knows what needs to be done โ€” and knows how implement change. ICP provides a free portfolio of services: the global network, community profiles, tools, inspiration, and a path forward for professional, vetted peace leaders in South and North America, Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

And itโ€™s working in ways that bode well for the future.

In a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General: “The mission of International Cities of Peace is to help energize a tipping force for global peace. To that end, we are creating the infrastructure of peace, community by community, to localize, democratize, and sensitize geopolitical decisions to the needs of families.”

Join us! Talking about peace is great — yet actually working on-the-ground is the way forward. Great writers say,”Show, don’t tell.” We/You are showing the way!

Thanks to all involved, Facilitators, Liaisons, Donors, Board Members, Liaisons, Community Peace Teams. DONATE, if you can. We need donations to keep the momentum going. I assure you, we will make sure your hard-earned money is used for IMPACT! No fluff. No salaries. No inefficient organizational overhead. Just high-impact peacemaking around the globe.

Sincerely and with respect,

J. Frederick Arment
