Choosing Peace: Planting Trees; Building Stoves
Planting Trees; Building Sustainable Cook Stoves: Partnering with the U.N. United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, the Ndendere Team has energy-saving projects, including a hand-made Rocket Lorena stove to save firewood and reduce deforestation. The Team in Ndendere, led by Liaison Chikara Philippe, formed the Green Action organization with the overall mission: “to alleviate, to some extent, the suffering of this wounded population by providing them with support to guarantee food security, the supervision of youth, the de-traumatization of women and children victims of rape, and to provide legal and medical support.” A community continuously under siege by war and poverty – a City of Peace committed to a better life for all.
