Endinzi, western District, Uganda: International City of Peace
We welcome Banturaki Benard and the team from the Real Agency for Community Development (RACD), an NGO registered in Uganda, Bernard and the team is establishing Endinzi Sub-County, Bukanga, Isingiro District, Western Region, Uganda as an International City of Peace.

ABOUT THE REAL AGENCY FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (RACD).
RACD IS AN NGO ESTABLISHED IN OCTOBER 2007, WORKING IN WESTERN UGANDA. TO PUT UP SUSTAINABLE REPLICABLE APPROACHES FOR ALL LEVELS OF LIVING STANDARDS FOR CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT, FOOD SECURITY AND EDUCATION.
Focus: Access to Information, Community / Customary Land Rights, Corruption, Economic Empowerment, Education, Environmental Justice and food security.
Background:
Real Agency for Community Development (RACD) is an NGO established in October 2007 as a Community Based Organisation but later the scope of our work expanded and we registered as a national NGO in 2021 working in Isingiro District particularly in three sub counties i.e. Endiinzi, Mbaare, Rugaaga and Nakivaale with an aim of empowering communities to improve their livelihood by putting up sustainable income generating activities like milk coolers, grinding machines ensuring food security in the region and sensitizing people about sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR).

I. To conserve natural resources and promote food security.
II. To concentrate on innovative, cost effective and replicable resources
III. To improve agricultural production through the use of existent resources and make appropriate research.
IV. To promote Income Generating Activities (IGAs) at household levels and at the center and support vulnerable people- orphans, PWDs, youth and to People infected and affected by HIV/AIDS
V. To promote practical trainings in life planning skills to adolescents and other vulnerable people To promote human rights

Projects implemented
Under microfinance thematic area, RACD in 2021 managed to register a SACCO called Endiinzi Town council farmers SACCO to enable the community members access small loans at a small interest rate to spur economic growth in the region.
From 2021-2023, RACD together with Youth fraternity for change implemented village savings and loaning association in Oruchinga refugee settlement and over 21 women groups were formed and supported ,30 youth led groups formed and supported in improving their livelihoods .
Under food security, Real agency has been at the forefront of championing land rights sensitization and training local people in isingiro district on how to effectively use their land, trainings and capacity building on post-harvest storage
Together with the national coalition of human right defenders (NCHRD), we are built capacity of major private sector heads on the national action plan on business and human rights and suggesting the possible remedies to ensuring human rights as we carry out businesses, with the same coalition we organized to learning sessions on Universal periodic review to capture peoples input into the UPR report.

ABOUT THE LIAISON
Banturaki Benard is from Uganda working with Real Agency for Community Development (RACD) as executive director and the founder of the organization. He holds Bachelors of Business administration accounting and finance from bishop Stuart University, post graduate diploma in financial management from UMI and a diploma in social work and social administration from Nsamizi Institute.
Bernard also working with Uganda local government as internal auditor and is from disadvantaged group of people in uganda. He advocates the rights of people to have peace without discrimination of each other to love one another and respect.
